Since the 17th century, the Cour du Sphinx has been reinvented many times, shaped by the people and works that have called it home. Today, the passage of time has left its mark, and it's time to rethink and restore this iconic spot once again.

A much-needed change
After four centuries spent bearing witness to the history of the Louvre, the Cour du Sphinx is in need of restoration. This restoration project aims to better conserve the works the courtyard houses, to improve the visitor experience, and to ensure that the courtyard is equipped to meet future museographic and climatic challenges.
