How do I make a donation to the Louvre online?
Answer: Making a donation to the Louvre online takes only a few minutes.
To do so, just follow these steps:
- Click on Donate online to access the Louvre’s secure payment platform.
- Choose the amount you would like to donate. The real cost of your contribution after tax deduction is calculated automatically (applicable to French tax residents only).
- Choose your payment method: you can make your donation by bank card, cheque or bank transfer. Paying by bank card via the Louvre’s secure payment platform is the simplest and quickest means of making your donation.
How do I know if the Louvre has received my donation?
Your donation receipt will be sent at the same time as the letter of thanks within about a month. In very busy periods, it may take longer for your donation receipt to be sent.
For donations made by cheque, the donation receipt will be dated the day the cheque is received, as confirmed by the postmark.
In every case, you will receive the donation receipt at the end of the campaign before you have to fill in your next income tax return (applicable to French tax residents only).

What happens if the Louvre does not raise the required amount?
If the Louvre does not succeed in raising the amount through donations, other projects will have to be delayed in order to allocate the funds necessary for the restoration of the Cour du Sphinx.
How do I dedicate my donation to someone?
When making your donation, you can choose whether you want your name to be included on the donors list, or whether you want to dedicate your donation to the person of your choice. If you decide on the second option, the name of this person will be included in the acknowledgements to the donors of the campaign. You may also request a donation certificate in the name of the person of your choosing. However, the invitations offered by the museum will be addressed to you personally in appreciation of your generosity.
How does the suggestion box work?
From 1 October to 23 November, anyone can suggest a new name for the courtyard via the suggestion box. Suggestions will not be visible on the website, and only the most pertinent suggestions will be shortlisted for the vote.
From 24 November, only donors will be able to vote for their preferred suggestion. At the end of the campaign, the courtyard’s new name will be revealed.
Who can vote on the new name for the courtyard?
From 24 November, only individuals who have made a donation to this campaign, regardless of the amount, will be able to vote for one of the shortlisted names
What is the Become a Patron! card?
The Become a Patron! card is offered to donors who have given €300 or more. It gives its holder access to the permanent collections of the Musée du Louvre for a full year from the time of its receival. If you are eligible, you will receive it by the end of the campaign.
Why does the Louvre need my personal details?
In accordance with the amended French Data Protection Act of 6 January 1978 and the General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR) of 27 April 2016, you have the right to access, query, amend, correct, modify or remove data concerning you. You may therefore require that any information about you that is inaccurate, incomplete, ambiguous or out of date be corrected, supplemented, clarified, updated or deleted. You may also exercise your rights to object to and restrict the processing of your data, as well as your right to data portability.
